"Psychedelic-assisted therapy has been a profoundly transformative modality in my healing journey. For many years, I sought treatment for anxiety and depression rooted in childhood trauma, later intensified by my work as a paramedic and pediatric intensive care nurse.

I engaged in numerous therapeutic approaches — including talk therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), EMDR, hypnosis, acupuncture, and somatic bodywork. While each modality offered valuable insight and coping strategies, I continued to feel that the core wounds driving my symptoms remained unresolved.

Through psychedelic-assisted therapy, I was able to access the deeper layers of trauma that had previously felt unreachable. In that process, I recognized how years of emotional suppression and adaptive numbing — strategies that once helped me survive — had also limited my capacity to fully heal.

With skilled facilitation and proper integration, I was able to reprocess longstanding patterns and internal narratives, replacing them with healthier cognitive, emotional, and relational frameworks. The shift was not simply symptomatic relief; it was structural change in how I relate to myself and others.

This work has extended beyond my individual healing. The benefits have positively influenced my family system and close relationships in sustained and meaningful ways.

Looking back, I deeply value the traditional therapies that preceded this experience. They provided essential tools, safety, and psychological literacy that ultimately allowed me to integrate the psychedelic work effectively. While those approaches helped me climb the mountain, psychedelic-assisted therapy allowed me to reach the summit. I am profoundly grateful for the journey — including its length — and for the healing that continues to unfold."

"My name is Brandon. I'm 45 years old and have served as a first responder in the Bay Area for 23 years in fire service and EMS.

Over the course of my career, I've seen and experienced things most people never will. Like many in this profession, I struggled with cumulative trauma — sleep disruption, chronic stress, anxiety, and what I now recognize as severe PTSD. But my battle with addiction started long before the job. Alcohol and other substances became my way of coping, and over time that led to multiple rock bottoms, damaged relationships, and divorces.

I tried traditional routes to get better. Some helped. Many didn't reach the core of what was underneath. At one of the lowest points in my life, I was introduced to plant medicine, including ayahuasca, psilocybin, and San Pedro. I was skeptical. But approached responsibly and with experienced facilitators, these experiences helped me confront trauma I had buried for decades. They didn't erase my past — they helped me process it.

For the first time, I gained perspective, emotional clarity, and a sense of self-worth that didn't depend on alcohol or adrenaline. The work wasn't easy, but it was real.

Today, I've been sober for nearly two years. I'm present as a father, steadier in my career, and no longer running from myself. Plant medicine isn't a shortcut or a magic fix. It's a tool — one that, when used intentionally and with proper support, can help reset the nervous system and open the door to deep healing.

I share this because I know how hard it is in our profession to ask for help — and how easy it is to suffer in silence."

Testimonies of Transformation

Stories of Return

"Hi, my name is Sean. I am a U.S. Army veteran who served in Operation Iraqi Freedom. I dedicated over 15 years to the Army before being medically retired in 2013 after enduring significant physical injuries, depression, anxiety, substance use challenges, and PTSD.

In 2015, I found sobriety and began my healing journey through traditional therapy. While therapy provided meaningful support, there were deeper wounds that remained unresolved despite years of committed work.

In 2023, I was introduced to psychedelic-assisted therapy. My first session was profound — it felt equivalent to five years of therapy condensed into a single six-hour experience. During that journey, I was able to access and resolve traumas I once believed I would carry for the rest of my life.

Since then, I have continued to experience deeper healing, personal growth, and a renewed sense of purpose. Psychedelic-assisted therapy has been transformative for me.

For anyone who has faced similar struggles, I encourage you to explore this modality within a safe, therapeutic setting. I genuinely believe in its healing potential when approached with proper guidance and intention, and I hope others are able to find the same relief and peace that I have discovered."
